Friday 23rd to Monday 26th May saw Newquay’s third Art8 Festival take place throughout the town centre with a range of exhibitions and workshops ranging from painting and sculpture to music, dance and drama. Newquay BID again supported the event by contributing towards the cost of publicity materials plus also paying for several events live pop up performances throughout the town centre and also providing the festival with 20 advertising slots over the five days leading up to the event with Pirate FM.
Over the 4th and 5th July the UK Pro Surfing Tour joined forces with Newquay BID to ensure the future of the Europe’s only night surf competition. BID provided sponsorship to fund the infrastructure of the event.
Newquay’s week long Carnival took place from Saturday 5th to Saturday 12th of July. This year the BID supported the event through paying for the cost of printing of the brochures, redesign of the website, event and PR help, plus the BID paid for Pirate FM to visit Newquay on the day of the procession to help promote the event.
Miracle theatre performed their version of Shakespeare’s the Tempest on the grounds of the Headland Hotel on Saturday 19th July, the BID provided money to pay for the infrastructure of the event plus help with promotion of the event.
Newquay BID will once again be supporting Newquay’s Fish Festival (12th-14th September) offering financial support for the print and design for promotional materials and local, regional and national PR. This year the BID will also be paying for Swamp Circus’s The Wave to come to Newquay on the Saturday and Sunday with three free performances each day on the Killacourt.
