German Seven.2 Side 1Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) is piloting a new project to promote Newquay to a European audience. Working with Newquay based Translation Company, Anja Jones Translation and PR Company, Excess Energy; the BID is hoping target key publications in Germany using translated articles from Seven Magazine.

Seven Magazine is a key marketing tool that Newquay BID distributes via businesses to promote Newquay and all that it has to offer, it has also been a driver in attracting journalists to the area through press trips. Working with the Excess Energy the BID has hosted over 91 press trips since 2011. The BID has translated three key articles from previous editions of Seven Magazine into German and is now using these to attract journalists and bloggers and inviting them to partake in press trips.

Daniel Trotter, Director at Lewinnick Lodge said: “I believe it is vital for the continued growth of Newquay to attract European guests. The work that BID has already done to promote Newquay as an attractive destination has directly benefited the town’s businesses, going forward, understanding and promoting Newquay to a growing visitor is essential.”

Eve Wooldridge, BID Manager said: “We are receiving increasing feedback from businesses that they are seeing a rise in the number of international tourists visiting them not just in the summer months but noticeably in the shoulder seasons as well. We therefore wanted to take this opportunity and run this initial pilot project to see if there is any interest from publications in Germany, if the project is successful this is something that will be written into the next business plan for the 2nd term of the BID.”

Copies of the published articles are also available to any hotels, guest houses or accommodation providers in the BID area who wish to promote their services to a German audience or simply wish to provide extra information for their Germans speaking customers.
