While the town may be renowned for its summer season, the Christmas period in Newquay, is jam-packed with things to do for all ages. Next week you will be able to pick up your 2012 Christmas events programme that features a whole host of fun things to do for all ages during the festive period in Newquay from 22 November-1st January. The guide will cover all of the main events taking place in Newquay at Christmas including the new Festive Festival.
The Festive Festival runs from Friday 30th November- Sunday 2nd Dec and features real reindeer, lantern parade, late night shopping event as well as free craft making, live music and movie screening events held in businesses across the town centre.
The reindeer will be outside the Hotel Victoria from 3pm on Friday 30 November – so don’t forget to keep an eye out for one with a red nose and whisper your Christmas wishes to them…
Friday 30th November will also see Christmas shoppers flocking to Newquay’s first Festive Food and Craft Market. With tasty treats and unique crafts on offer, the market, organised by Newquay BID, will run from midday until 8pm outside of the Hotel Victoria, offering the perfect chance to stock up on perfect presents for all.
With fun and funky street entertainment from 5pm to 7pm, Friday will culminate in the big Christmas Lights switch-on along Cliff Road. Pirate FM’s Holly Day and the Love Crew will be helping to warm up the crowds before counting down to the big switch-on at 7pm. The town will light up in a riot of festive colour, followed by a spectacular fireworks display over the harbour, funded by Newquay Town Council.
A magical lantern parade will then wind its way from Cliff Road to Newquay Harbour, featuring a bespoke City of Lights supersize lantern, Camborne Youth Band and a lively samba band that’s guaranteed to get everyone boogying in the Christmas spirit. Many shops will be open until 8pm, offering mulled wine and mince pies to customers.
