Open to all businesses and their staff in Cornwall, and free to BID members, the town’s first ever business week is from Monday 19th – Friday 23rd October 2015. The event brings tgoether an impressive roster of high-end experts to deliver insights and advice, driving business relationships and boosting morale throughout the town’s establishments.
There are many sessions available that will be very relevant to businesses such as accountants, solicitors, dentists, mechanics, tradesmen and more.
Of particular interest to the many professional service and trade businesses may be the sessions on ‘Access to Finance for your Business, ‘Business Insurance – is your business correctly covered’, ‘The Future of Online Search’ and ‘The Landscape of Business in Cornwall.
With Kim Conchie, Chief Executive of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce speaking about the economic changes and opportunities ahead; and Rob Edlin, of Google Partner Niddocks, giving insights into how you can maximise online search for your business this is a fantastic opportunity to inform yourself and benefit your business.
In addition, both the Business Week launch at The Lewinnick on Monday the 19th of October at 8am and the Business Week Close and celebration at The Stable on Friday 23rd October at 3pm will provide ample opportunity to meet other local and Cornish businesses and make new, exciting connections!
Created and heavily invested in by Newquay BID, and with The Newquay Voice as its main sponsor, the full programme of ongoing events will include many inspirational meet-ups throughout the town’s leading tourism and hospitality venues.
With its thriving business culture and hardy community spirit, Newquay Business Week has been designed by the BID to celebrate and unite local businesses, whose collaborative efforts and support have contributed towards the town’s successful and on-going evolution.
The week will offer visitors access to advice and resources from influential speakers to help nurture and grow not only their companies, but also Newquay as a flourishing town for business strategy.
Mel Cotton-Dyer, Business Connections Manger, Cornwall Chamber of Commerce says, “The launch of Newquay Business Week is great news for Cornwall and Cornish businesses. Access to this level of information and speakers will be highly valued by the business community and of great benefit to companies throughout the Duchy. It is a fantastic initiative which we are delighted to support’
Since the BID’s inception the team has continually created and implemented strategic projects and tools contributing to the revitalisation of the town’s profile. Most communities depend on the strength of their local businesses to grow and thrive and with the BID’s support, Newquay business owners are now seeing how the resort is reaching towards its potential as an attractive place to live, work and do business.
Additional sponsors of the week-long business event will be PSP Insurance and Financial Solutions whilst many individuals and hospitality venues will be hosting events in support of the enterprising initiative.
Newquay BID Director Karen Hoyle says, “We’re delighted to be able to offer such a valuable opportunity to local businesses. We’re aware that we’re still only part of the way through our journey of the development process of our town. It has been a challenge but with businesses now readying themselves for the next level, the level of strategic and logistical advice via Newquay Business Week will help accelerate that journey. Events like Newquay Business Week and access to panels and individuals such as will be available here, are regular occurrences in other competing resorts. This is a key delivery from the BID team and another reason that Newquay BID must continue if the resort is to be able to compete on this national scale.”
From pioneering start-ups to larger enterprises, all businesses, no matter their size, are invited to attend any of the sessions taking place throughout the week. Most will be free of charge and some ask for a small £2 fee which is invaluable considering a hefty fee would usually be charged when seeking advice from the chosen leading speakers. All other bookings can be made via the Newquay BID website www.newquaybid.co.uk/events or by calling 01637 498599. Business week is free to Newquay BID and voluntary members and members will be sent the discount code by BID Buzz newsletter or can be obtained from the BID team.
