Normally a complete re-election must only be held every two years however due to the BID saying good bye to a number of directors due to their growing commitments, the BID was able to open up the Board to three new directors and is therefore delighted to introduce three new faces to the Board’s line-up.
New Board members elected are: Darryl Reburn, General Manager of the Headland Hotel, Jenny Craven, Director at Velotive and Peter Butterly, Owner of the Sandy Lodge Hotel.
Most BIDs follow the same management formula; board members are made up from the Town Council, Cornwall Council and Chamber of Commerce, BID levy payers, the voluntary contributions sector, and another body not included in any of the above but with an interest in securing the objectives of the BID proposals.
Newly elected Jenny Craven said: “It’s great to have been elected to the Board, having moved to Newquay three years ago I’ve seen a lot of positive change occur within the town. Opening Velotive in early 2013 opened my eyes however to how much potential Newquay still has and I’m keen to enable Newquay to make the most of it.”
Darryl Reburn said: “I’m delighted to have been voted onto the Board of Directors and feel that my time at the Headland Hotel has given me the insight into Newquay that the role needs and am keen to ensure that the positive work of the BID continues.”
Peter Butterly said: “I was so pleased to be given the opportunity to join the BID’s Board of Directors, owning a Hotel within Newquay means I realise the importance of filling Newquay in its shoulder and quieter months and want to do as much as I can to help Newquay thrive.”
The Board of Directors is a driving force for the BID, and provides crucial management support to the not-for-profit organisation. The Board is charged with helping the BID Manager continue to build on the work that the BID has carried out over the last two years, which includes a major positive shift in public perceptions.
