The banners were first installed last summer and BID saw over 9000 posts using #lovenewquay across social media. The banners feature a durable bracket system, designed to prolong their lifespan and will remain in place until the end of October.
In accordance with the BID’s business plan, the ‘creating a welcoming town centre’ priority aims to enhance the visual appearance of Newquay through physical improvements such as banners, bunting, promotional signage and planting, making Newquay an even more attractive place to live, work and visit.
The banner project supports another of Newquay BID’s key priorities, to promote Destination Newquay, by marketing the resort and encouraging online activity across the Love Newquay social media pages.
The banners feature #lovenewquay to encourage visitors to share images on social media, to raise online awareness to show Newquay as a vibrant destination for all.
The Love Newquay campaign already supports marketing the town by sharing images, running competitions, interacting with followers and raising awareness of what Newquay has to offer. With over 30,000 followers across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, Love Newquay is continuing to support online engagement with both visitors and residents. The Love Newquay brand will be further developed this year with the launch of a new digital platform. The Love Newquay website, app and beacon system will further showcase everything that is wonderful about Newquay. BID recently secured funding to support the development of ground breaking software for the project.
Alongside the banners, new bunting has been installed in Gover Lane this year, BID will be funding 40 hanging baskets and will be funding additional projects with Newquay in Bloom. Additionally BID will be co-ordinating and funding a ‘spring clean’ removing stickers from signage and graffiti throughout the town, as well as part-funding, with Newquay Town Council, the removal of damaged posts that are no longer required.
