The competition was arranged by Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) to help the town spread festive cheer, and was judged by representatives from Newquay BID, Visit Newquay and the Mayor, and members of the public via the Love Newquay Facebook page.
Many local retailers took part across the town and competition was fierce, with shops displaying some wonderful festive themed windows and eye-catching displays. The winning window receives £300 worth of advertising in the Newquay Voice, £100 of which has kindly been donated by the newspaper itself.
Judges noted the high calibre of displays this year, with iCandy and Fistral Surf Co being commended for their inventive windows.
The competition forms part of the BID’s Festive Festival, to encourage visits to the town and increase footfall in the run up to Christmas. The festival also sees the distribution of event guides, which advertises festive activities and events happening in Newquay. The BID also launched a Winter Parking Tariff promotion to raise awareness of the reduced tariffs in many car parks, to bring more people into the town centre.
