Newquay’s Music and Ale Festival promises a heady blend of great live local music, Christmas cheer and plenty of beer from Friday 20th – Sunday 22nd December. The free festival will return to Newquay’s Piazza from 11am to 22.30pm for three days and nights. The much-loved local shindig is organised by Bare Feet Promotions and funded by Newquay Business Improvement District (BID).
Following the success of last year’s event, which drew hundreds of people to the town centre to taste an array of festive ales and enjoy some of Cornwall’s best musical talent, this year’s festival has something for everyone. On Saturday morning there will be Zumba classes, shiatsu massage sessions and Nordic walking trials delivered by the Feel Good Festival as a chance for people to try a new keep fit activity and warm up at the same time. Café Irie will have a pop-up on hand to sell coffees and snacks to hungry participants who have worked up an appetite.
Musically this promises to be a great year with a line-up that includes Newquay brother duo The Sea who recently played at Boardmasters; award-winning artists like Abee Hague, who has just won Best Soul and RnB act at the South West Music Awards; and Land of the Giants, who won Best Band at the South West Music Awards. There will be open mic sessions from Adam Parfait and the Belfast Busker, alongside firm local favourites including Newquay’s own male acapella group ‘Ollangwella’ and Emerald who will be doing a Christmas party themed set. Details of the full line-up are available from the Facebook page www.facebook.com/NewquaysMusicAleFestival.
Emilie Calhaem, Newquay BID Manager, said: “We are very much looking forward to the return of the Music and Ale festival in the Piazza this year. It is an extremely popular local event helping to spread some Christmas cheer as well as driving visitors to the high street to do some last minute present shopping.
“As well as music from some fantastic bands and local artists, there really is something to get everyone into the festive spirit, with hearty winter food, rocking Zumba sessions and other Christmassey activities. The BID would love to hear from businesses that are planning to run any special offers over the three days to capitalise on the extra footfall, as we can help promote these to a wide audience via social media.”
