Plans for Newquay’s first week long Carnival, are well under way and organisers are hoping that the Carnival parade will be the biggest in Cornwall.

The ultimate day of the Carnival on Saturday 13th July is set to bring a whole host of fun activities and a very special guest to Newquay’s town centre. The Newquay Business Improvement District has organised for Peppa Pig to make personal appearances at intervals throughout the day, joining forces with the Newquay Lions and Newquay Town Council to add extra activity to what is already looking to be an exciting week. Residents and visitors are encouraged to come and say hello to the cheeky little piggy. Check out www.visitnewquay.org for a full list of times and locations of the characters appearances.

Eve Wooldridge, BID Manager said: “We have been working with the carnival committee on driving additional footfall to Newquay for the Carnival Parade. Peppa Pig is well loved with families and it is hoped that families with young children will come to Newquay to see her and then stay for the carnival parade at 6pm.”

The excitement continues late into the afternoon with Newquay’s first Mascot race between the Hotel Victoria and Central Inn at 5.30pm! There are already of a host of Mascots confirmed and organisers are urging that any businesses with their own mascots get involved. Please contact alice.beard@newquaybid.co.uk for more information.

Beginning at 6pm from the Hotel Bristol, the Carnival Procession will conclude what is shaping to be Newquay’s best Carnival to date. Already consisting of a number of bands, there will be one Jazz band, two Samba bands and three Marching bands within the procession; there is definitely something for everyone. There are still places available to take part in the Carnival and with the already growing number of participants organisers are urging that any business’s or organisations considering taking part take the next step and submit their application forms to confirm their spots. For more information on how to book your place please contact Andy Cole on 07971550893.

Carnival Brochures with a full listing of the week’s events will be available from the start of July and available to pick up from Newquay’s Tourist Information Centre at the bottom of Marcus Hill or from many of the Newquay’s food and drink establishments within the town’s centre.
