Come and support your local high street on Friday 6th September by experiencing a host of special shopping discounts and workshops held by local businesses, to make the most of Newquay’s independents.
To celebrate the launch of the brand new independents guide for Newquay the Business Improvement District has teamed up with local businesses who will be hosting special workshops and exclusive offers to celebrate independent businesses and thank their loyal customers for supporting them all year round. The guide is intended to help local people and visitors alike to ‘shop local’ and support the eclectic nature of the high street. It encompasses all of the independent retailers in the Newquay Business Improvement District boundary, revealing the eclectic range of retail outlets that Newquay’s Town centre has to offer. With over 90 listings the guide covers everything from retro music sellers, charming gift shops and the latest in surf and skate fashion.
The Newquay Business Improvement District is hoping that residents and visitors alike will head to Newquay’s town centre and support their local business. Newquay BID is asking that they help to fly the flag for their independent retailers, even if it is only through buying one item from an independent business instead of a national chain, or venturing into a café or retail business that they have never been in before.
Sara Black, Owner of Greyblackwhite exhibition space on Fore Street said: “Whether you’re new to Newquay or have been living here your whole life, this guide will reveal some amazing independent shops that you may not have known were part of Newquay’s diverse assortment of retailers. We will definitely be making sure we distribute the guides widely to promote Newquay’s independents, and encourage people to shop locally.”
Alice Beard, Marketing and PR Assistant for the Newquay BID said “We are delighted with the new publication that is about to launch and hoping it follows the success of the food and drink guide, which we have already distributed 20,000 copies since the launch in 2012. The retail forum had a fantastic idea to launch the guide with event lead day to highlight the huge range of skills and hidden gems that Newquay Independents have to offer”.
“There is already a huge range of offers and events ready to take place on Friday 6th, such as demonstrations on how to make your own bunting and hanging baskets, special “pamper day” offers and exclusive discounts at some of your favourite retailers, cafes and restaurants. People in Newquay on this day would be mad not to take advantage!”
5,000 copies of the Indies Shopping Guide have been printed and are available to pick up from many of the towns independents retailers, as well as being stocked in Newquay’s Tourist Information Centre.
