Newquay BID has been working closely with the Newquay Lions to ensure the Carnival reaches as many audiences as possible to help it become as big a success, if not more, than previous years. The BID has directly contributed to the event by paying for the upgrading of the Carnival website as well as the printing of 5000 brochures, showcasing the events during the week. Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa have also helped with this year’s Carnival by donating 2,000 pairs of branded sunglasses that will be used in various fundraising activities throughout the week.

BID is also organising the popular Mascot Race which this year will feature Drecky the Pirate FM parrot who will be bring the Love truck team down to broadcast live from the town on the morning of Saturday 12th July, the day of the actual Carnival procession. The BID are working hard to get businesses involved in this live broadcast and would like to hear from businesses and local groups who would like to take this opportunity to promote their event the Cornwall wide audience that Pirate FM offers.

BID Manager, Emilie Calhaem, says, “Newquay is an exciting, fun and vibrant place, with loads of amazing events taking place throughout the year. The Carnival is a great family focused event that has something to offer everyone, locals and visitors, young and old. I for one cannot wait to see the outcome of the Mascot Race…we have so many entries this year it ought to be a close run race!”
