Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) has teamed up with Pirate FM for a ‘Big Ticket Giveaway’ as part of a special four hour live broadcast this Saturday 19th April where the radio station will be giving away a whole host of fabulous prizes generously donated by Newquay businesses.

From 8am to 12pm, the Pirate FM team will be broadcasting live with the BID at the Tourist Information Centre on Marcus Hill encouraging visitors and locals into the town this Easter weekend. Presented by Newquay local Scott Temple, the programme will feature guest interviews from the organisers of Art 8 Festival, Newquay Fish Festival and the Sundowner Sessions at Lusty Glaze to help raise the profile of the fantastic things coming up in the town.

Every 20 minutes listeners will be given the chance to win a fabulous prize and all they have to do to claim it is be the first person to get to the Tourist Information Centre with the correct answer to a question about Newquay. There are 12 brilliant prizes in total, ranging from a free pass to Newquay Zoo; a two course meal for four at new Fistral restaurant The Stable; a spa treatment for two at the Headland Hotel two tickets to see The Feeling at the Sundowner Sessions at Lusty Glaze. Blue Reef Aquarium, The Lighthouse Cinema, The Central Inn and the Great Western Hotel have all donated prizes too.

Emilie Calhaem, BID Manager said: “We urge everybody to switch on Pirate FM and listen out for this special broadcast on Saturday for an upbeat and exciting opportunity to engage with our town. This activity perfectly dovetails with the BIDs objectives of driving extra footfall into Newquay during this key spring holiday period and we hope it will create a real buzz. Pirate FM is renowned as a radio station that promotes Cornwall for all the right reasons and we are delighted to be working with them.

“The broadcast will also provide a great opportunity for local businesses to promote their offering, as well as helping us spread the word about other BID based initiatives including the £1 car parking offer and the whole range of brilliant events that are coming up over the summer. If any local businesses are keen to support this activity by offering prizes or who want to come on and talk about special offers they are running, please get in touch this week.”
