Seven_autumn_2014-9184-2The Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) works to keep the town a vibrant and busy visitor attraction, and this year they are again supporting a series of exciting events to add to the diverse programme of things going on.

The BID, established in 2011, delivers innovative projects that aim to improve the trading environment of Newquay. A key focus for the BID is the supporting and running of events that drive footfall in the town year-round.

This year the BID is proud to be supporting a number of new and existing events that will be taking place from May through to September. These help to create an important hub of events in Newquay and they encourage the town to thrive throughout the summer.

2015 BID Supported Events Include

Fistral Night Surf – Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th May

Joe Way Paddle for Life – Thursday 18th June

Newquay Carnival Week – Saturday 4th to Saturday 11th

Miracle Theatre presents “The Magnificent Three” – Thursday 13th to Saturday 15th August

The Newquay Bay Hop and Junior Fistral Bay Hop – Saturday 22nd August

Newquay Fish Festival – Friday 11th September to Sunday 13th September

Marketing and Event Co-ordinator Alice Beard said: “Events are an integral part of the BID’s five year business plan, not only to increase foot fall into the town centre, but also to raise Newquay’s profile as a destination famous for its eclectic mix of events. It was made clear by businesses prior to the beginning of the BID that events are a key priority for promoting the town and therefore we continue to put events at the heart of our strategy.”

“Last year we saw tens of thousands of people, both locals and visitors, heading to Newquay for the diverse and exciting range of events that we supported and we are looking to replicate this success this year. 2015 is going to be a brilliant year with something for everyone.”

Jill Wilmott, President of the Newquay Lions and organiser of Newquay Carnival Week said: “Last year Newquay BID enabled the Carnival Committee to start up a website and aided us in the production of an impressive 64 page glossy programme. Both are fundamental in ensuring the Newquay Carnival will continue to build on last year’s success of over 1000 participants and many more onlookers, both locals and holiday makers.”

“The constant presence of the Carnival Week on the BID website, social media pages and in their publications ensures we maintain a high profile during the months of preparation and planning. All this support leads to a greater number of visitors during pre-summer shoulder season.”
