The Newquay Business Improvement District is working with Piece of Cake Training to offer a series of Social Media Course’s at a discounted amount for all BID members.

Social Media is now an important part of marketing strategy for many businesses and best of all it’s FREE! If you haven’t taken the plunge with Facebook or Twitter yet and don’t know where to start, these courses are for you.

Each place on the course costs £15 however BID members will only be asked to pay £7.50 and the BID will subsidise the remaining £7.50. BID members have the choice of four courses; there will be a novice/beginners course as well as an intermediate/improver course for both Facebook and Twitter.

Novices will learn why social media is important, how to set up an account and/or page and how to start following businesses and people. Intermediates/Improvers will learn how to make their social media accounts work harder for your business and increase your likes and followers.

Sam White, of Piece of Cake Training wants businesses to realise that “Using social media for your business isn’t nearly as complicated or scary as it may seem. Once you get going, it really can help you promote your business and build relationships with your customers; and all for free, apart from your time. What’s more, people are more and more expecting you to be on social media to find out about you and ask you questions; and if you’re not there, they will move on to a competitor who is. Social media has really helped us to build our business and we are looking forward to showing you how it could do the same for yours!”

Marketing and PR Assistant for the Newquay BID notes that “social media is currently the fastest growing digital medium and it makes complete sense for businesses in Newquay to make the most of the extensive opportunities that are available to them. Social Media is generally free but if businesses do choose to invest money in to their social media platforms even then the costs involved are miniscule compared to alternative forms of marketing.

“It is also a great way for businesses to drive traffic to their website. Consumers rely on social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter for reviews before buying a product or service.  If you know how to manage your social media accounts correctly and effectively then the opportunities to manage your reputation are immense.”

There will be 8 possible courses for BID members to choose from over 4 separate dates in the first two weeks of October. There will be courses in the day and evening to suit different working hours depending on the hours your business may run. Each course will be taught in a bite size 2 hour session making it easy and accessible for you as a business owner. All you need to do is to remember to bring along your laptop or tablet.

If you would like more information about the courses times or dates, then please contact the Newquay BID on 01637498599 or email Alice on alice.beard@newquaybid.co.uk. Please note that if you are not a BID member but are interested in booking a place on the course then please still get in touch, non BID members will however need to pay the full price of £15.
