Newquay BID is working closely with Newquay in Bloom and Newquay Town Council to help maintain and develop the town’s floral displays. This is much needed work since Cornwall Council withdrew from providing its quota of hanging baskets for this year.
Gemma Taylor, Newquay BID Manager, said: “Hanging baskets and floral displays create a positive impact; brightening the streets and enhancing the look of the town. The aim of the hanging baskets is to enhance the way both shoppers and business owners feel about Newquay, and to help the town centre look attractive to residents and visitors alike.”
The floral displays are part of Newquay BID’s business plan to create a more welcoming town centre. Other recent investments for Newquay by the BID include the signage project; new Love Newquay destination banners; ongoing work with Newquay in Bloom to improve areas in the town, including a decluttering project to highlight out of date, broken or defaced fixtures, and working with volunteers to monitor and record when bins are being emptied by Cornwall Council. Data from the operation will be fed back to improve baseline services.
