Summer Festival PosterA six week calendar of family fun events and activities is coming to Newquay as part of the town’s brand new and exciting Summer Festival 2015. Starting on Saturday July 25th and going on until Saturday September 5th, the colourful array of events will heat up the town in a summer season scorcher. Organised by Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) and Newquay Town Council, the activities will be split across Cliff Road and the Killacourt.

All of the Cliff Road activities will take place on the pedestrianised area next to Burger King and in front of Newquay’s train station. For the events on the Killacourt, Newquay BID has received £1,000 of funding from FEAST Cornwall. FEAST is an organisation that invests in community and artist led projects and events that break new ground in the local community.

The Killacourt Live Sessions and Big Inflatables have been organised by Newquay Town Council and all other events have been organised by Newquay Business Improvement District (BID). With the exception of the inflatables, all of the Summer Festival events are free.

Newquay BID Manager, Eve Wooldridge says, “This is the first time we have organised a Summer Festival in Newquay and we’re really excited about it. What is so great is the sheer variety of the activities and events that will cater for all members of the family. We’re hoping to really drive footfall into the town centre as well as create a real summer buzz.”

Eve continues, “The Art Work shop at the Aquarium at the end of the summer will be used to create fish made from willow that will be part of a trail for children to follow through the town during the Fish Festival which starts in September 2015. In this sense, we are trying to tie in events and encourage and drive participation in these fun and creative activities. We’d like to thank everyone for their support in helping put this together and especially FEAST for providing their generous and extremely useful funding.”

The Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) works to keep the town a vibrant and busy visitor attraction, and this year they have again organised a series of exciting events to add to the diverse programme of things going on. The BID, established in 2011, delivers innovative projects that aim to improve the trading environment of Newquay. A key focus for the BID is the supporting and running of events that drive footfall in the town year-round.
