Business owners from Newquay have become so socially savvy after attending a series of low-cost courses funded by the Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) that advanced master-classes are now being rolled out.
Earlier this month, the BID funded beginner and intermediate social media master-classes to help local businesses use platforms like Facebook and Twitter to promote their offering and reach new audiences. Run by specialist Cornish provider ‘Piece of Cake Training’, the courses attracted a number of delegates and the feedback is that the content has proved invaluable.

Newquay BID recognises that social media is a free and accessible marketing tool that can easily be exploited to help promote an organisation. The BID is keen to help Newquay businesses get the most from platforms like Facebook and Twitter, so has worked with ‘Piece of Cake Training’ to put on these courses at a minimal cost to benefit local businesses.

The social media knowledge provided by ‘Piece of Cake Training’ has really been fantastic and all delegates found some useful tips to take away and put into practice within their own businesses.”
Due to the high demand of the first four courses, Newquay BID will be teaming up with ‘Piece of Cake Training’ once more to run a series of advanced courses for both Facebook and Twitter.
Sam White, from ‘Piece of Cake Training’ explains: “The advanced courses will again cover Facebook and Twitter, looking specifically in more depth at promoting posts. It will also teach delegates how to include social media into their entire marketing strategy and how it can help boost the results you get from more traditional forms of marketing such as advertising.”
The Facebook course will be run on Thursday 21st November 1-3pm or 6-8pm, and the Twitter course will run the following week on Wednesday 27th November also 1-3pm or 6-8pm.
Courses are £7.50 each for BID members and £15 for non-members, courses work on a first come first serve basis and will hold a maximum of ten delegates and a minimum of two. At this stage we will also need to limit to only one delegate per business.
