Zombie_crawl_2015-8393Saturday 31st October saw an estimated 900 people take to the streets of Newquay to help run the Zombies out of town as part of Newquay Business Improvement District’s Zombie Crawl.

Aimed at children aged 5-16yrs the Newquay BID invited families to the Cribbar on Gover Lane for a spook-tacular dance performance with 3D Dance, there was also face painting taking place inside Whiskers and outside of Ma’Mita with the Heart FM Angels, and a campervan photo booth on Gover Lane.

The highlight of the event was without a doubt a visit from the famous Titan the Robot! Arriving at the Piazza Titan performed to hundreds of excited spectator, Titan then completed the crawl at the Hotel Victoria where he wowed the crowds of witches, zombies and demons with a second amazing show.

Alice Beard, Marketing and Events Co-ordinator commented: “We couldn’t have asked for better growth this year! Last year we calculated 600 people in the parade however this year we have estimated a 50% increase plus even more at the Titan show at the Piazza. Having Titan perform was most definitely an added bonus and brought an unanticipated increase to the event. These events are key to bringing in extra foot fall into town during quieter times of the year so knowing that this event in particular is continuously growing is such a positive sign for the BID.

Alice continues: “The BID would also like to give a big thank you to all of those who came and took part in the event plus all of the businesses who helped to make it happen. In particular the Cribbar, The Hotel Victoria, Ma’Mita and Whiskers for providing us with venues for the start and end of the parade”.

Over the past five years, the BID has continued to grow events that bring extra foot fall into Newquay’s Town Centre during the shoulder seasons. With less than two months to go until Newquay businesses make the crucial decision as to whether or not the vital support and delivery of the Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) is continued, the business plan for 2016-2021 has now been sent to businesses and is available to view at http://www.newquaybid.co.uk/bid-renewal/. If you are a business and have any questions about the new business plan, please email BID Manager Eve.Wooldridge@newquaybid.co.uk or call the office on 01637 498599 to arrange a time to visit.

The next big event hosted by the Newquay BID in partnership with the Newquay Town Council will be Newquay’s Festive Festival, Light Switch on and Lantern Parade Friday 27th to Sunday 28th November.
