Ending Newquay’s summer season with flair, Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) in Cornwall is once again supporting the Zapcat Racing Championships, ensuring it goes ahead for another year of thrills and excitement.
The twice-annual event will take place on Friday 28 September and Saturday 29 September at Fistral Beach in Newquay.
The races will take place from 12:30pm on the Friday, with spectacular action from ten teams who will race across the bay. The final round kicks off on the Saturday when the winners of each catergory will be decided.
The BID is supporting the event, with the aim of attracting footfall to the town and cementing Newquay as the adrenaline-sports capital of the UK. It’s thought that scores of businesses will benefit from the event, which draws a huge crowd for its annual spring and autumn events at Fistral Beach.
BID Manager Eve Wooldridge said: “The Zapcat Racing Championships is a really fun and family-friendly way to toast the end of summer season here in Newquay, and this will be no exception. The races are an amazing spectacle, so we hope that lots of spectators will turn out to support the event and the local businesses that work so hard to make it happen.”
A Zapcat boat will be on display outside the Hotel Victoria and on the Piazza on Thursday 27 September for fans and spectators to find out more and have photographs taken.
To close the event, the racing will be followed by a black tie function at the Hotel Victoria where racers, as well as local residents, are invited to attend an awards ceremony and closing party. Tickets are £35.00, including a three course dinner with wine.
