It’s the most wonderful time of the year and Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) is celebrating by bringing not only Santa Claus and his real life reindeer to Newquay town, but also a whole host of fabulous music and delicious ales at an undercover Music and Ale Festival.
Newquay BID has teamed up with Newquay Town Council to provide a programme of seasonal events in the fourth Festive Festival which promises to be even bigger and better than the first. The 2015 Festive Festival will kick off on Friday 27th November, providing plenty of cracking Christmas fun up until Sunday 29th November.
Top of the Christmas list is a much anticipated return visit from Santa and his reindeer. The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd is Britain’s only herd of reindeer, found free ranging in the Scottish mountains. These tame and friendly animals are a joy to all who come and see them.
Santa’s incredible team of four–legged flyers will be waiting outside the Hotel Victoria from 4.30pm-6.30pm to meet all the children of the town. Shortly afterwards they will dash and dance their way to join the lantern parade as it comes past the hotel. This year the parade will be made up of all of the Schools in Newquay so will be bigger and better than ever.
In addition to this special visit, the popular Music and Ale Festival will be taking place in the car-park on Fore Street, overlooking the bowling green and Towan beach. There are already some great bands lined up for the event and looks to be pulling in even more of Newquay and Cornwall’s best live acts to kick off the festive season.
The towns special late night shopping event will also be happening right across the town on Friday 27th November with many establishments opening their doors until 8:30pm. This year, the BID is encouraging many more retailers and hospitality establishments to prepare their own Christmas and late night shopping events in advance so they can take advantage of this key footfall opportunity.
Alice Beard, Marketing & Events Coordinator for the Newquay BID says, “The Festive Festival aims to bring some Christmas magic to Newquay and with it lots of visitors looking to get into the seasonal spirit to do some late night shopping. We’re thrilled that so many businesses are opening later during the festival period to provide great shopping options for everyone.
Alice continues, “The return of Santa’s Reindeer is certainly a real treat and will be a big draw for many people to come and visit Newquay. I know lots of people both young and old are very excited about seeing his crew of flying friends at the Hotel Victoria.”
