In a bid to increase footfall to the East Street area of town the Newquay BID organised a series of prize give-aways including 40 free tickets to Newquay’s Cinema, discount vouchers to a selection of restaurants throughout town, tickets to Miracle Theatre’s performance of the Tempest and a family ticket to Newquay Zoo. To be in with a chance of winning all visitors had to do was come and put their name into a drawer to win one of the fantastic prizes.
Despite a slightly damp start to the day Newquay’s community was in high spirts in the lead up to the Newquay Carnival Parade that evening with Pirate FM’s Dom James taking the airwaves to help promote various events in Newquay’s jam packed calendar and in particular the Newquay Carnival Week.
Dom was joined by Jill Wilmot and Denis Dent to chat about the events taking place that evening with as part of the Newquay Carnival, plus Nick Webb of Barefeet Promotions to promote the Miracle Theatre at the Headland Hotel and Dave Eggins, Chairman of the Newquay Cricket Club to talk some more about the Beach Cricket Tournament taking place the following day.
Alice Beard, Marketing and Events Coordinator at the Newquay BID commented “It was brilliant to have Pirate FM return once again, the Easter broadcast was such a success that it seemed an ideal opportunity to include them in the promotion of the Newquay Carnival and to increase foot fall to that particular area of town. Fresh Bistro was a brilliant location for the day and that was of course heightened by head chef Susan culminating the day by presenting the team with a Pirate FM shaped cake masterpiece.”
