Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) invited businesses in Newquay to come and take part in a Halloween themed window display competition over October half term. Nine businesses in total stepped up to the challenge and produced some terrifically terrifying displays.
The businesses that took part included Northshore, Northshore Girls, Smile Surf Shop Roly’s Fudge Pantry, Martha’s Tearoom, Cornish Stone, Newquay’s Tourist Information Centre, Rebecca’s and Fistral Surf Co and all of them put in a fantastic amount of effort.
The displays were judged by Alice Beard Marketing and Events Co-ordinator for Newquay BID, Jenny Craven, Director for the Newquay BID and Mayor Dave Sleeman. The public were also able to vote for their favourite via the Love Newquay Facebook page, the two scores were then added together after being ranked from 1-9 for each judging section.
After much deliberation and the counting of votes, Martha’s Tearoom was announced as the winner of £300 of advertising in the Newquay Voice, £100 of which was kindly donated by the Newquay Voice themselves.
Alice Beard Marketing and Event’s Co-ordinator for the Newquay BID said: “We are so pleased with the Halloween window display competition and we’re hoping that even more businesses will sign up for our Christmas competition. The Christmas competitors will not only be in with the chance of winning a great prize but will also be adding some extra Christmas cheer to Newquay’s town centre.”
