Festivities start on Saturday 5th July and culminate on Saturday 12th July, when the actual parade will come through town. The Saturday will also see the Second Annual Newquay BID Mascot Race take place with numerous mascots from around Cornwall coming to race through the town.
Charlie the Clown Fish from Newquay’s Blue Reef Aquarium will be making an appearance for the second year running as will the reigning Champion, the Newquay Lion. We also have some new entries that might be in with a chance of making the top including Pirate FM’s Dreckly the Parrot, the famous Ferdie the Fox from Flambards, Monkey Tree’s Funky Monkey and Trevornick holiday park’s super hero Holywell Boy will be making a flying visit. Rumours even have it that Dreckly might be bringing the Love Crew to broadcast all the fun live from the town.
If you’re a mascot from a business and you are wondering why you haven’t been entered then get your manager to contact Alice Beard, Marketing and PR Assistant for the Newquay BID on 01637 498599 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to be in with a change of being the Champion of Cornwall.
Newquay Carnival Event Organiser Graham Wilmot said: “There are still places available to take part in the Carnival and with the already growing number of participants organisers are urging that any businesses or organisations considering taking part take the next step and submit their application forms to confirm their spots.”
