Press Release: 4/10/2017
Spooky bats are taking over the town this Halloween, help Newquay BID find them all!
Bats are taking up residence in businesses across the town and Newquay BID is inviting families to search for them in order to win treats this Halloween.
The competition, created by Newquay Business Improvement District (BID), involves children (accompanied by an adult) following the trail to help find the hidden bats. Participants just need to solve the clues to find the business locations. Clue sheets will be made available from the Tourist Information Centre from Saturday 21st October.
Participating businesses will give each child a stamp on their clue sheet once they have been into the shop. Once the clue sheet has been completed it can be handed to Newquay Tourist Information Centre where the keen Bat Collectors can claim a Halloween treat! The trail does not have to be completed all in one day and budding bat adventurers have until Monday 30th October to return their completed sheet.
The Bat Trail has been developed by Newquay (BID) as a means of generating footfall throughout the town, giving families a free and fun activity to participate in during half term, and to encourage Halloween spirit in the run up to this year’s Zombie Crawl on Saturday 28th October.
The bats placed in Newquay businesses are being especially created by Trenance Learning Academy so the Bat Trail will also give pupils the chance to see their artwork displayed and enjoyed throughout the high street for the half-term period.
Local businesses are keen to take part in the Halloween antics: the Halloween Shop Window Competition will return this year and local businesses of all kinds will be creating ghoulish displays for all to see. A judging panel will rate the entries and one lucky business with receive £500 worth of advertising with Newquay Voice.
The Bat Trail and Shop Window Competition form part of the BID’s strategic priorities to support business and help create footfall, raise awareness, and promote engagement in the town centre.
Carla – Marie Jones, Newquay BID manager, says “We are pleased to be running the Bat Trail again this year providing a fun, free activity for residents and visitors alike, where they can get involved with the local businesses and enjoy the Halloween festivities. We’ve had great feedback from the previous trails from families and the businesses: we are really looking forward to seeing lots of children taking part and enjoying the trail again this year”
