Newquay BID are pleased to announce the launch of the first version of the UK-leading Love Newquay app and website, with part funding secured via Cornwall Development Company, from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This digital project will feature listings for all BID member businesses, giving them an online platform to promote their services and communicate directly with customers.
Version 1 will be released at the end of June and will include details of all the businesses, places of interest, surf reports provided by Magic Seaweed and a new blog focusing on the unique Newquay lifestyle.
Version 2 will be launched at the end of July and will provide a live event listing of everything going on in the town, from the big surfing contests to local charity fundraisers. This version will also include a loyalty and rewards scheme that will allow businesses to directly target their customers throughout the year.
Version 3, released in September, will see a unique network of Bluetooth beacons that will allow users to find areas of interest nearby and provide information on historical locations such as the Huer’s Hut. The location-aware app will be able to customise the information presented to users based on weather / surf conditions to provide suggestions on activities, attractions and much more.
The new software will monitor usage across the town, recording numbers in key areas and allowing the mapping of routes taken by the public. The integrated analytics will allow BID (who will administer the app and website) to collate not just footfall, but further information such as male to female user ratio and age range. This will provide BID with a wealth of detailed and accurate information about who is visiting Newquay and when. This data will facilitate targeted promotion and marketing strategies to maintain and increase the numbers of people coming to Newquay.
Newquay BID Chairman Jonathan Start says of the project “With this new technology we hope to be able to put Newquay businesses first with this innovative approach to connecting with both visitors and residents of Newquay. This project will enable BID business members to interact with their customers via this platform and give them a competitive edge in the increasingly important digital world. Newquay BID are delighted to be part of this exciting project”
Further details about the app and website launch will be posted on the Love Newquay Facebook page, as well as Twitter and Instagram.
