Newquay Business Improvement District has taken steps to brighten up the high street by installing a range of brightly coloured banners on one for the town’s main shopping streets and refreshing the banners at the bus station.
The banners, which went up at the bus station and in East Street last week, were designed by the BID in order to enhance one of Newquay’ central gateways, and shopping areas, reflecting the vibrancy of the resort to visitors and residents alike.
Eve Wooldridge, BID Manager, said: “We had a great response to the banners at both locations last year and we wanted to continue to enhance Newquay’s street environment by replacing the colourful banners for 2013, reflecting Newquay brand. We had to remove the banners for the winter period due to weather conditions but this gave us an ideal opportunity to refresh and maintain them ahead of the Easter period”
The BID has recycled the banners that were up on East Street by using them at the bus station, refreshing this area and utilising the new BID brand that was launched in spring 2012. The new banners on East Street are more simplistic; the BID has listened to feedback from businesses and residents last year and kept the message simple.
Richard Holder, David Ball Estate Agents added: “The banners really do look great, they are bright, colourful and vibrancy to our street. This is very important during tough trading times when we have vacant units on our high –street. Prior to the BID the banner posts were empty for years so it’s great to see them being used”
