Cornwall Air Ambulance Shop has been crowned the winner of Newquay’s annual Halloween window display competition.

The competition was arranged by Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) to help the town get in the spirit of Halloween during October half term, and was judged by representatives from Newquay BID, Newquay Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor, and members of the public via the Love Newquay Facebook page.

Fourteen local retailers took part across the town and competition was fierce, with shops displaying some fabulously fiendish and eye-catching displays. The winning window receives £300 worth of advertising in the Newquay Voice, £100 of which has kindly been donated by the paper itself.

Mayor of Newquay, Carl Leadbetter says of the competition “I believe Halloween is the fastest growing celebration so I am delighted that the Newquay business community has really started to embrace it on the High Street, particularly as it comes during a quieter period in the year.  I enjoyed going around with the other judges and seeing all the displays.  I thought they were all very commendable.  Congratulations to all who took part and I hope the initiative will carry through to next year.”

Gemma Taylor, BID Manager said: “We had great entries in this year’s spooky window display competition and we want to congratulate every retailer that took part and helped create a vibrant high street. We are now planning the Christmas Window Display competition and look forward to more seeing the entries, and businesses spreading festive cheer throughout the town.”

Plans are underway for the forthcoming Christmas shop window display competition, and details will be released shortly. If you would like to register your business, please email info@newquaybid.co.uk
