From the 4th April 2018, all Cornwall Council-run car parks in Newquay (except The Harbour) are free in the evenings – from 4pm to 9am. These car parks include The Manor, Dane Road, Fore Street, Belmont, Towan Headland and Mount Wise.
The removal of evening parking tariffs should help to increase footfall in the town centre and surrounding areas and allow both visitors to Newquay and local residents to make the most of the town’s vibrant range of restaurants, bars, cafes and bistros as well as later opening hours for shops in the spring and summer. Newquay BID will be running a series of social media and print campaigns throughout 2018, promoting the free evening parking within the town, with suggestions on what to do and see in Newquay.
While Newquay is rightly famous for it’s wonderful beaches and world-class surfing, the town is home to a variety of businesses that showcase local Cornish produce, fresh fish and seafood and innovative menus that have been inspired by Newquay’s stunning ocean location. Newquay also has a thriving live music scene, with everything from chilled acoustic guitars on the beach, traditional Cornish choirs and foot-stamping ska and rock. The town also plays host to DJ’s playing the best of Northern Soul, drum and bass, trip-hop and reggae, Latin and funk. The Lighthouse cinema, based in the heart of town next to St George’s Road car park, also has the latest blockbusters and family movies as well as live filmed performances from some of the most critically acclaimed theatres in Europe, including the Royal Opera House and the National Theatre.
So, if you’re looking for a new experience this year or just want to revisit some old favourites, take advantage of Newquay’s free evening parking and explore everything that the town has to offer.
