Saturday 29th October saw over 900 people take part in this year’s Zombie Crawl event, dressed in ghoulish get-ups and fiendish fancy dress. Newquay BID invited families to walk the streets of Newquay to celebrate Halloween.

Titan the Robot started the fun, performing at the Piazza and Bank Street, as well as making a cameo appearance at the Hotel Victoria at the end of the parade.

Families enjoyed a spook-tacular dance performance with Trio Dance in The Chy Bar & Koola on Gover Lane.  Free face painting took place inside Whiskers. Creepy stilt walkers entertained the crowd before, during and after the crawl itself, which stopped off outside Frankie & Benny’s where Trio Dance led the crowd in a classic Thriller dance routine. A campervan photo booth captured families and their fantastic fancy dress outside the Hotel Victoria.

The highlight of the event was without a doubt a visit from the famous Titan the Robot! Arriving at the Piazza Titan performed to hundreds of excited spectator, Titan then appeared at the Hotel Victoria, where he wowed the crowds with a second amazing show.

Gemma Taylor, BID Manager commented: “The zombie crawl gets better each year, and we are delighted with how the it went this year. These events are key to bringing in extra foot fall into town during quieter times of the year so knowing that this event is continuously growing is such a positive sign for the BID. We are already planning for next year and looking to grow the event even more, to accommodate its popularity”

Gemma continues: “The BID would also like to give a big thank you to all of those who came and took part in the event plus all of the businesses who helped to make it happen, including Trio Dance, Titan the Robot, Impact Sound & Light, Swamp Circus, Little Rainbow Face Painting, Cornwall Photo Booth, Frankie & Benny’s and Koola, Whiskers and Hotel Victoria for providing us with venues for the start and end of the parade”.

Since its first term, the BID has continued to grow events that bring extra foot fall into Newquay’s Town Centre during the shoulder seasons. The next big event for the town will be Newquay’s Festive Festival, Christmas light switch-on and Lantern Parade, brought to you by Newquay BID in partnership with the Newquay Town Council and Newquay Lions. The event will take place on Friday 25th November.
