Newquay BID have announced their Christmas Shop Window competition for all BID members to enter. The competition runs from Friday 24^th November until the 31^st December, with the judging day on Friday 15^th December between 11am-1.00pm. A judging panel will visit all the entrants and businesses will be rated on three criteria: effort, creativity and overall visual effect. An entry form is available from the BID team and all entries must be received by Friday 8^th December.

The competition is open to all BID members and the theme is ‘Christmas’ – this can be interpreted in any way that the business sees fit. The prize for the competition is half a day’s photographic shoot with local photographer, Mike Searle. Mike is a creative food, editorial and commercial photographer based in Cornwall: his clients include the Royal Cornwall Museum, Fifteen Cornwall, Tarquin’s Gin, The Scarlet Hotel and Sharp’s Brewery. The images will be owned by the winning business and can be used for social and print media, advertising, inclusion in catalogues / brochures etc. and the photographs can be of the exterior / interior of the business, products made and sold, or even the staff – the details of the content of the photographs will be arranged between the winning business and the photographer.

The shop window competitions organised by Newquay BID are designed to increase footfall, support businesses and to provide a more vibrant atmosphere in the town in the run-up to Christmas. The competition is not restricted to shops: bars, café’s, restaurants, attractions can enter the competition: the more the merrier. Carla-Marie Jones, BID Manager, said: ‘The BID team have organised the Christmas Shop Window competition to create an atmosphere of festive cheer in the town in the run up to the Festive Festival on November 24^th and we would like to see as many eligible businesses in the town enter as possible. There were 22 entrants for the Halloween Shop Window competition, won by Silver Breeze Jewellery, and it would be great to exceed that number for the Christmas competition and help to get Newquay looking really festive for the holiday season”.
