Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) have now opened their event funding application cycle for 2020/2021.

The BID strategic events vision (up to March 2021) is to create a more vibrant town by scaling up signature events and increasing the support available for sustainable community, lifestyle and sporting events. Events are such a significant part of Newquay’s success and can be grown by encouraging a larger audience demographic and adding value; be it through music, heritage, culture or business engagement. Community events are aimed at both residents and day visitors from across the region; these events increase footfall in the town, raise Newquay’s profile and demonstrate all Newquay has to offer both residents and visitors. Utilising Newquay’s substantial local strengths to encourage community spirit, business engagement and participation is a key factor for Newquay BID.

Carla – Marie Jones, BID Manager says: ‘This priority area for BID is key and so important to the success of businesses and Newquay. There are some amazing events held in Newquay year after year and it’s great to see such a packed calendar of events. One of BIDs priorities is to offer funding to lifestyle and community events that have growth potential, are inclusive, promote and develop community spirit and create a feel-good factor in the town. Newquay BID’s aim is to help such events to become sustainable in the longer term. All events from community, commercial and not-for profit will be considered for possible funding, so even if you have an idea for a new event or want to build upon on an existing event but funds are holding you back, now is the time to express your interest and apply.’

If you are holding any events from April 2020– March 2021, now is the time to apply. The BID events committee made up of BID Directors will review all applications received and decide on which events to fund and how much will be allocated based on successful applications meeting the pre-defined strategic visions document. Please note, not all events are guaranteed funding. Newquay BID prioritise events held within the Newquay BID boundary.

The deadline for all event funding applications to be received, alongside any supporting documentation is Monday 10^th February 2020.
