Visitors to Newquay’s high street will notice that the town has had a colourful facelift in time for summer 2021. Funded by Newquay Business Improvement District (BID), the centre is now adorned with a selection of multi-coloured #LoveNewquay branded banners and new, vibrant aesthetic bunting. It is hoped this will provide a welcome morale boost to the local community and visitors to the town.
The 21 banners are positioned in situ throughout the town centre to capture maximum footfall throughout the busy summer season, with locations including the bus station, East Street and Cliff Road. The beautiful bunting has been hoisted up throughout Gover Lane and will hopefully entice locals to support the high street whilst enjoying the aesthetic.
Falling under the BID’s ‘Cleaner, Greener and Safer’ theme, this addition of some colour and vibrancy into the town centre environment has been widely welcomed by businesses.
Carla – Marie Jones, BID Manager, said, “It is great to see the return of our annual bunting and banners, they add an instant pop of colour to really brighten up the town centre and make the high street an attractive place to visit and dwell. The banners and bunting are replaced annually and providing businesses keep seeing a positive benefit to these, we will look at re-installing and adding to this existing provision each year through other similar projects. We’d love to hear from businesses over any areas in town that may need brightening and ways in which other colour can be added, just get in touch with us with your ideas and we’d love to bring some more to fruition next year.”
Jamie Garfield from Tom Thumb said, “The bunting and banners that have been installed by Newquay BID really spruce up the town centre, adding an element of occasion and celebration. In a sense, we’re all celebrating being back open right now and look forward to safely welcoming lots of visitors to the town this year, secure in the knowledge that Newquay’s looking it’s best for them.”
Susan Deakin, Newquay BID Director and Manager of Visit Newquay TIC said: “We’re really pleased with the new bunting and banners erected throughout the town in time for the summer season. It enhances the visitor experience and just adds a bit of cheer -which everyone could all do with at the moment. We’re anticipating a bumper season this year so it’s great to know the town is looking at its best and giving a lasting impression.”
