Three grass roots community organisations have joined forces with Newquay BID to bring a national project to Newquay this December and they want all of the Newquay businesses and our resident community to join in!

Blystra Arts, Treehouse Newquay and Faces of Newquay hope to bring together the wider Newquay community with the town centre businesses with the help and funding of Newquay BID in decorating town in the run up to Christmas.

Window Wanderland started in Bristol in 2015 and since then has been inspiring communities to create a festival of light and colour, where people transform their neighbourhood into a magical walking trail using illuminated paper designs in their windows.

What better time to bring it to Newquay, the organisations are asking you to decorate a window in your home/school/business between the 14th and 24th December, and register your display to add it to the map allowing everyone to enjoy a magical walk around Newquay’s very one Window Wanderland!

You can make a display your flat, house, business, school, nursery, car, campervan, shop – or in your front garden! It could be as simple as a candle in a window, or you could go all out and decorate the whole house! Anything goes… as long as it’s family friendly! Don’t forget to register your window to make sure it appears on the Newquay Window Wanderland map.

It’s completely free for everyone to join in and to register you display.

Liz Wright, Blystra Arts Co-Director say –

“As we haven’t been able to enjoy our normal festive workshops and activities this year due to the on-going pandemic, we thought this would be a really great way of connecting our community in a fun, interactive and Covid safe way. Let’s see how many homes and businesses we can get involved and really light up Newquay this December”.

Carla Marie Jones, Newquay BID Manager adds –

“It’s wonderful to work with such proactive community groups on such a new and exciting project which ultimately gives families a COVID safe event in which they can take part in this year. It’s great to be part of something bigger and have this chance to bring this vision to fruition in Newquay. By joining forces and working with both residents and businesses, allows us the chance to build upon the unity and resilience that Newquay has demonstrated time and time again this year. Families are looking for something fun and safe to do, what better way than exploring what’s rights on our doorstep! We are encouraging all businesses throughout the high street to decorate and dress their windows in their best festive attire and we will be shortly announcing a grand prize for ‘best dressed business window’, which will be judged by a panel of three on Monday 21st December. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on the prize and how you can enter your business over the coming days as we will be circulating all information vie email and social media.’’
