The Headland, Newquay
Saturday 25th August, 2012
For a change of scenery to your TV at home, opt to sit back, relax and enjoy a good film out on a headland by the sea.
Swapping surround sound for the sound of crashing waves, the town is set to host a cool and quirky outdoor film screening on Newquay’s iconic headland overlooking Fistral Beach.
The Big Seaside Screening will take place on Saturday 25th August, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of surfing in Newquay – the surf capital of the UK – on the grounds of The Headland Hotel and will show classic surf film, The Endless Summer. People of all ages are encouraged to come along and enjoy watching the film on the big screen, bringing picnics and blankets, immersing themselves in Newquay’s laidback surf culture.
Visitors can set-up a spot on the headland from 6:30pm, before the film starts at 8:30pm. The Endless Summer is one of the most famous movies in surfing history charting the ultimate surfing adventure as two Californian surfers travel the world in search of the perfect wave.
There are free tickets available for the screening, which will be released and given away on a first come first served basis. Tickets will be made available from Friday 10th August and will be free to pick up from the Tourist Information Centre on Marcus Hill.
The Big Seaside Screening is being hosted on the grounds of The Headland Hotel, organised by Newquay Business Improvement District in association with Event Cornwall’s Outdoor Screening Series.
