The South West Immigration, Compliance and Enforcement office in Plymouth covers Immigration Enforcement throughout Devon & Cornwall. As well as the enforcement of Immigration Law they also engage at many levels with those they may encounter in the local community. In particularly this applies to local businesses who may already be or who want to employ foreign nationals including those from the EU.
On 16th May 2014 a number of changes were made to the Civil Penalties for Employers – Section 15 of the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
The main change sees an increase in the maximum fine from £10,000 to £20,000 but there are also changes to the rules when dealing with students, the documents you have to check and procedures for reviewing someone’s status.
The South West Immigration Office would like to offer you free training on these changes and an opportunity to speak to them and maybe check if your current procedures meet the requirements. The training would also cover some basic documentation examination training that would give you an extra level of protection when examining passports and other identity documents.
This is a new initiative and comes as a result from feedback that local businesses would welcome more face to face engagement. Although the training would be free they would very much welcome the offer of a local venue to hold the training in.
If you are interested in attending such a training event please contact Steve Paine on 01752 689163 or Fax: 01752 689152 Email: Steve.paine2@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk.
