Newquay celebrates Gold Award success in South West in Bloom 2026
Newquay BID wins Gold in the Business Improvement District category, Newquay achieves another Overall Gold, the town takes third place in Art in the Landscape, and Hendra Tourist Park wins the Amberol Trophy for Best Business Floral Display in the South West.
Newquay is celebrating a fantastic set of results at the 2026 South West in Bloom awards, with Newquay BID achieving Gold in the Business Improvement District category, the Newquay Bloom team securing another Overall Gold for the town, and Newquay achieving third place in the highly competitive Art in the Landscape category.
Adding to the region’s celebrations, Hendra Tourist Park was awarded the Amberol Trophy for Best Business Floral Display in the whole South West region, recognising its outstanding floral display and bringing further recognition to the Newquay area.
The awards recognise the collective efforts being made across Newquay to create a more attractive, welcoming and vibrant town through collaboration with local businesses, community partners and dedicated volunteers.
Newquay BID is delighted to have achieved Gold in the South West in Bloom awards, part of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom campaign. The award recognises the BID’s ongoing work to improve the town centre, support local businesses and enhance the experience for residents and visitors throughout the year.
Over recent years, Newquay BID has worked on a wide range of projects designed to improve the town’s appearance, support businesses and enhance the overall visitor experience.
These initiatives include shopfront improvement funding, working with Newquay Town Council on Christmas lights, summer bunting and regular events, working with Biffa to help keep the streets clean, collaborating with Openreach to improve the appearance of telecommunications cabinets, and working with highways to address signage issues. The BID also supports new businesses as they establish themselves in the town and has championed creative projects such as Newquay’s mural trail and door mural competition.
Together, these projects form part of a wider commitment to creating a town centre that people can feel proud of, where businesses can thrive and where the environment reflects the character, creativity and community spirit of Newquay.
A fantastic achievement for Newquay’s Bloom volunteers
Alongside the BID’s success, Newquay has once again achieved an Overall Gold Award, recognising the incredible work carried out by the Newquay Bloom team.
The team’s dedication, enthusiasm and hard work make a real difference to the town, and their achievement is particularly special because the work is carried out by volunteers who give up their own time to help make Newquay a better place for everyone.
Their ongoing commitment to improving the town’s appearance and celebrating its character is something the whole community can be proud of. Securing another Overall Gold is a fantastic reflection of their efforts and the positive impact they continue to make.
Newquay also achieved third place in the Art in the Landscape category, a particularly challenging and competitive category. This is an excellent result and further recognition of the creativity, care and collaborative work that goes into enhancing the town’s environment.
Hendra Tourist Park’s Amberol Trophy adds another impressive regional achievement to the results, highlighting the contribution local businesses make to the appearance and appeal of the wider Newquay area.
These achievements demonstrate how much can be accomplished when local organisations, businesses, volunteers and the wider community work together towards a shared vision.

“Our work at the BID is about much more than how the town looks. It’s about working collaboratively with our businesses, partners and the wider community to tackle challenges, improve our surroundings and create a place that people are proud to call home and businesses are proud to be part of.”
“From shopfront improvements and street cleaning to murals, signage and supporting new businesses, every project plays a part in making Newquay a better place.”
“We want Newquay to be an amazing place to visit throughout the year, not just during the peak summer season. These awards give us real encouragement to keep building on what we have started, and we look forward to continuing this work with our fantastic local businesses, partners and volunteers.”
What does the South West in Bloom Gold Award recognise?
The Britain in Bloom campaign, run by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), encourages communities to improve their local environment through horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community participation.
Entries are assessed against three core pillars:
• Horticultural achievement – the quality, impact and care of planting, landscaping and green spaces.
• Environmental responsibility – efforts to improve the local environment, encourage sustainable practices, support biodiversity and maintain attractive public spaces.
• Community participation – how effectively organisations engage local businesses, residents, volunteers and partners in improving their area.
For Business Improvement District entries, the assessment also considers the work undertaken, the challenges faced, the improvements achieved and the wider impact on the town. Evidence of progress, ongoing development and collaboration is important in demonstrating the difference made.
Newquay BID’s Gold Award, the Bloom team’s Overall Gold, the town’s third-place finish in Art in the Landscape and Hendra Tourist Park’s regional floral award collectively highlight the value of a collaborative approach to enhancing the area.
Looking ahead
Newquay BID will continue working with local businesses, partners, volunteers and the community to build on these achievements, supporting projects that enhance the town centre, strengthen the local economy and create a welcoming destination throughout all four seasons.
The BID would like to congratulate the Newquay Bloom team, Hendra Tourist Park and everyone who has contributed to these achievements. These results are a testament to the commitment, creativity and pride people have in Newquay and the surrounding area.
